Infrared Heating for Swiss Offices
Commercial heating accounts for a large share of office energy bills. SunWave Ceramica lets you heat zones independently — pay for occupied meeting rooms, not empty corridors. Zero dust, silent operation, and no maintenance contract.
Commercial Applications
From individual offices to large open-plan floors — SunWave Ceramica scales to any commercial space.
Private offices
One panel per 25 m² office. Staff control their own room temperature. Zero noise and zero dust circulation from a HVAC system make for cleaner, quieter working conditions.
Meeting rooms
Schedule heating to activate 30 minutes before a booked meeting. Auto-off when the room is empty, so you're not paying to heat it between bookings.
Open-plan floors
Zone open-plan areas by desk clusters. Heat the zones where staff are sitting, not the entire floor. Compatible with desk booking systems and occupancy sensors for fully automated control.
Reception & lobby
Ceiling-mounted panels provide instant warmth as visitors arrive without exposed heating units or hot radiator surfaces. Clean aesthetic — panels can be spec'd to match interior design language.
Storage & server rooms
Frost protection at low power. Infrared heating at the controlled low setpoint doesn't disturb electronics. No convective air movement that can carry dust into sensitive equipment.
Outdoor & semi-outdoor
IP20 rated for indoor use, but outdoor-rated versions available. Heated terraces, covered walkways, and entranceways — infrared is unaffected by wind (heats surfaces, not air).
What Zone Heating Looks Like in Practice
Infrared works as a zone-heating layer — installed where staff actually sit, controlled independently from the building's main heating. Here's what that looks like for a typical office.
Example: 200 m² Office Space
- Zero maintenance cost — no service contracts, ever
- Plug-in or hardwired — fits into existing spaces, no new plant rooms or pipework
- Zero dust circulation — relevant for food service, pharmaceutical, and clean-room adjacent spaces
- Adds zero noise to open-plan floors — completely silent operation
- 0.043 mg/m³ TVOC — independently tested by Fraunhofer WKI
- ESG reporting: zero on-site emissions, independently documented air-quality results
Staff Wellbeing & Indoor Air Quality
Research consistently links indoor air quality to productivity, sick days, and staff satisfaction. Infrared heating addresses the main heating-related air quality concerns.
No dust, allergens, or particulates
Convective and fan-based heating systems move air continuously, circulating dust, allergens, carpet fibres, and particulates around the office. Infrared heating does not create air movement. The panel heats surfaces and occupants directly. For offices with staff who have dust sensitivity or allergies, this is a meaningful working environment improvement.
0.043 mg/m³ TVOC (Fraunhofer WKI tested)
Fraunhofer WKI measured TVOC emissions of just 0.043 mg/m³ at operating temperature — far below regulatory limits, with no carcinogenic compounds detected. This is particularly important in commercial settings where multiple emission sources (furniture, carpets, cleaning products) already contribute to the indoor VOC load.
No combustion, no on-site emissions
SunWave Ceramica panels involve no combustion and produce zero on-site emissions. The Swiss SUVA (accident insurance) and BAFU (environment office) both monitor indoor NO₂ in commercial buildings — adding heating that contributes nothing to that load is a straightforward improvement, without touching the building's primary heating system.
ESG documentation
All three test reports (TU Dresden, Fraunhofer WKI, Labor S.A.) are fully documented with named report numbers and institutional credentials. This provides verifiable documentation for ESG reporting, tenant sustainability requirements, and cantonal energy performance certificates.
